Off to the redwoods…with a stack of books of course :)

My phone wallpaper will become my for real wallpaper this week

I took this picture the last time I was up north in the redwoods in Humboldt State Park. Now I’m off to go camp and hike in redwoods almost up towards the Oregon border. I LOVE REDWOODS SO MUCH Y’ALL!

And of course I am bringing a stack of books to read:

GONE GIRL by Gillian Flynn – because everybody in my GoodReads feed has read it

MR PENUMBRA’S 24 HOUR BOOKSTORE by Robin Sloan – ARC I got that looks like it’s been getting great reviews. Super cool cover, too. And I haven’t read adult fic in awhile

THE TIGER’S WIFE by Tea Obreht – more adult fic for YA

ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD by Kendare Blake – many people whose opinions I respect have loved this YA horror/fantasy PLUS I met the author at ALA conference and she was super rad

SPELLWRIGHT by Blake Charlton – Heard this author speak at a panel (with George RRRRRR Martin) about the value of fantasy/scifi. He was an amazing speaker and he convinced me to read his book which has been described by some as “Harry Potter with Dyslexia”

NOTES FROM GHOST TOWN by Kate Ellison – another ARC I picked up

FIRST COMES LOVE – another ARC. Potentially cheesy. It’s a romance and the male protag’s name is GREY! #50ShadesofBlerg

GENGHIS KHAN AND THE MAKING OF THE MODERN WORLD by Jack Weatherford – I went to a Genghis Khan exhibit at the Field Museum in Chicago back in May and it was RAD!!! I was in the middle of reading the third book of GAME OF THRONES and all I could think about was Dothraki in this exhibit. Plus the exhibit claims Genghis invented PANTS and was super democratic and encouraged multiculturalism. Yay non-fiction!

and I have convinced Mr.LitHacker to read EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE by Jonathan Safran Foer. I hope he likes it!

I will be back next week! Happy reading hackers and hackettes!
